Butterfly Mutation in Lineage Piece (Butterflyed Mobs Explained)

What Mutations Are

The Kokushibo update added the Mutation system: every mob in the game has a chance to spawn mutated. The Solemn Lament update then added a specific variant — the Butterflyed mutation (per the official Trello’s update notes).

Why Butterflyed Kills Matter

The Solemn Lament Mastery questline gates directly on them:

  • Quest 2: kill 50 NPCs with the Butterflyed mutation
  • Quest 3: defeat 15 bosses with the Butterflyed mutation

Mutated spawns are chance-based, so these quests are about volume — farm zones you can clear fast and take every Butterflyed spawn you see.

Soulweaver Butterflies

The same content band runs on Soulweaver Butterfly as currency at the Butterfly Shop on Frostborn Island: x35 for a Butterfly Grave Key, x100 per Fusion Core (plus x20 Boss’s Soul), x500 toward A Large Coffin — and the Solemn Lament weapon itself wants x100. The Trello does not publish the Soulweaver Butterfly drop source; the Frostborn Island / Butterfly Grave content band is where the whole economy lives.

The Butterfly Grave dungeon (key from the shop) drops Invert Tears, Monochrome Wood, Solemn’s Outfit and The Final Elegy title — the other half of the Solemn Lament build path.
